Default Anyone else experience this issue?

I have noticed that the PT wants to move a foot or two past where I apply the brakes. So if I put my foot down firm, the car will still roll a bit past the point of where I wanted to stop. It is not all that noticeable except when I am at a local mall where there are stop lines on the ground and it matters to stop on a dime. It can be dangerous to roll through those lines. It also only happens at low speeds, slowing down really fast from high speeds the brakes feel normal.

Starting to think it could be the engine surging at low speeds, but that is unlikely. More like the brakes do not grab all of the way.

Took it to the dealer and they had the "your crazy" look and turned me away. I am not sure if I am using the right terminology to describe the problem to them but it is annoying. Anyone already fix an issue like this?

I do not experience this on my 2008. When I come to a stop I normally press firmly when I am stopped, there fore there isn't any rolling when I am stopped. I do not have ABS.

My car does not have ABS either, and based on your reply my PT should not be doing that. I may need to push on the dealer a little more.

Do you have OEM brake pads, or did you replace them?

I think I know what you're talking about. Sometimes while I am sitting at a light, my foot will barely be on the brake, and the RPMs of the car will go up a bit and I will move a few inches or so just because I am not pressing the brake that firmly.

A foot or more sounds a little extreme...I would def. get it checked out and see if you maybe have some bad brakes or something.

Let us know!

Do you hear the engine's rpm when you come to a stop... maybe the rpm goe's higher than normal and you would have to put more pressur on the brakes to stop... cause your engine tries to keep the car rolling, try putting the car in neutral when comming to a stop and see if it's better

I need to go back out and "test" the car somewhere with the stop lines or just find a safe place. I did not think of putting it in neutral, but not a bad suggestion to see if it is engine related.

It is almost as if the brakes were tuned not to lock up in a panic stop, so as hard as you press you cannot lock up the wheels/tires it just rolls a little extra. The brake pedal is also mushy, not firm overall. How should a PTs brakes be, are they normally firm on the pedal?

When I was at the dealer I even showed the Service guy by driving him around and he said he would talk to the Service manager and get back to me. I think they feel the brakes work "good enough". Perhaps if I was out of warranty and they could charge me to fix it they would find the problem.

My brakes are not "mushy" but then again they are not "firm".

Can you touch the floor with your brakes when just pressing them?

Maybe there is air in your brake system?? Try to bleed it.

Did that and they did nothing about it. Called Chrysler directly today to ask about the issue and they called the dealership. The service department at the dealership said they had no record of the car coming in for a brake problem. Huh? This is a 5 star dealer?

I will go home and dig for the paperwork they gave me at the time.

That is really frustrating!
