Default Poll....getting away with mods

Hey guys...how do you get away with buying mods for your car and getting it by the wife???


I have a number of ways,,,,#1..Do alot of housework
#2. Let her go out jogging with her friend 3 times per week
#3..Don't tell her
#4. Explain what a great deal I got...ie its half the normal price!!!!
#5. Insist it will be the last thing I buy....yeah right
#6. Bring up all the candle parties she has been to and all the candles in the basement
#7..Bring up the mod when I take her out to supper
#8,,BEG!!!!!

LOL I don't think those will work..IDK...but why is she so against Mod'ing the PT? Maybe just do it slowly rather then over purchase tons of stuff all at once.

my wife was so-so about it till i took her a rally(second one for me) and now she likes the idea of getting a second pt for her.

...as long as there's food on the table, a roof over our heads, her car is clean and running and spare cash to go on vacations and trips to go see the grandkids up in Virginia about 4 times a year, she's fine, even likes most of what I did.

The only time I crossed the line is when I lowered the PT and the ride was quite rough for awhile till I changed the struts and shocks to match the lowering.

I get a "bit" from the household expenses, that's my money to spend as I wish. I don't attempt to hide anything from her and she doesn't hide anything from me. It has worked for almost 49 years.

I would just buy the mod I wanted. Once she finally saw it (and sometimes it would take a week or two for her to see it) she would make some sort of comment, usually negative. That was the end of it. Then a few weeks later it would happen all over again. Works the same way now with my Camry. She asked me not to do anything to it when we bought it. Well, that lasted about a month.

It's always fun hearing my parent's reaction to a new thing that I added to the PT that night.. Of course I get the whole "You shouldn't waste your money" speech, but I can tolerate it!

I once read a Porsche brochure it read..."you don't buy a Porsche because you Need one but rather because yoy Want one".........This is what I quote when parents or wife say "You don't NEED" Thaat.....I reply"No I don't need it but I WANT it and I deserve it"

My wife, bought the Cruiser for me, from eBay, while I was at work...
It was a pre-retirement, gift... To replace my 2001 PT Cruiser...
She is also very supportive about Mods!!
