Hey RatRodPT I saw your car on Auto Design Studio and it's a freakin sweet ride. Was wondering if you belonged to a car club or know of any other primered kustom PT enthusiasts? You'll know why I ask once I post a few pictures of my ride too.

Cheers!

Thanks Psycho. Can't say that I've seen any other satin painted or rat themed PT's. I have a feeling though that as the first generation PT's are all now coming close to the "re-painting age" we may see more of them. The new wave of colors and textures available in satin, satin-metallic, and satin-pearl tones are really cool.
Would love to see pics of yours. Let me know the link when you have it.

Hey Guys,

Their are a couple, but they are rare. I also think they will start gaining in popularity before too long. Anyways, here are a couple (of course starting with a familiar, and my personal fav Rat Rod PT on top).

And I myself have been quietly, and very much seriously talking with a few close friends, looking at donor shells, and dusting off my saws all to possibly bring this thing to life, and just might become a little project in my driveway within the next few months! Though it is a bit hard to recognize, yes this is a PT, and is one cool Photoshop Concept that for me is just begging to be built!

I will keep you posted when I find my donor car, and start deconstruction on this bad boy!

Take er easy!

That would be absolutely insane Candyman! Wow! That would be a treat to see the step by step creation of that monster.

Hey their 07PTSilver,

Yep, this one is gonna be fun! One of the biggest projects is going to be the body which is my fun part!

My plan is to track down an 01 / 02 body that has been wrecked in the front, brace the heck out of it so it doesn't flex, and then basically cut the middle out, chop it, lay the A Pillars back, clean it all back up, and put her all back together again. I just love that raw, UN-refined bare bones look, and half the coolness is having the ability to just jump in, and Cruise anywhere without worrying about scratching the paint, and so on! The only changes I am planning from the look above will be a smoothed in rear split window cover, shaved handles on suicide front doors, and a full open SoCal style ragtop type roof opening instead of a moonroof.

I am going to have to do some homework on a power plant, but am leaning towards a vintage Chrysler V8.

I for sure plan on keeping an ongoing log of my progress once I get under this project, so please keep an eye out for it coming up sometime in the near future!

Here is another rough idea of a fenderless photoshoped concept whichretains the full body instead of cutting the center section out. It is a bit more of a refined street rod here, but could easily make its way into a Rat Rod pretty easily as well!

I am just a bigger fan of the idea of a little two seater Rod personally, but both would be pretty cool, and a pretty good step away from looking like the next guy at a PT Show! Always better to inovate, not imitate, right?

Anyways, take er easy, and I will catch ya later!

Now you're talking! I love the "Orange Craze" (self-named!). That would be incredible. I would like to place my order for one!!! Black out the windows and maybe shave the door handles and have a remote pop open the doors (some kind of spring mechanism). I know, I'm looking into it too deep, but something like that makes the brain come alive!

Hey 07PTSilver,

Yep, I'm kind of partial to Orange myself which, one look at my PT, and its pretty hard to hide.

I wish I had an investor to fund a project like that, and help bring it to life! No one has ever done it, and I have the tools, skills, and facility to do it! One of these days I'll get to it!

I designed, and built a VW Bug for a friend that was pretty close to that, and had so much fun doing it!

Anyways, a company called Auto Lock makes a kit for the shaved handles which have door poppers (A small but strong solenoid that works by remote and pops the door out, and usually will have an external over ride switch mounted somewhere like inside the inner fender well to open your doors manually if your battery dies. In fact I am working on a prototype forward tilting hood right now that works off the same selonoid technology to open the hood forward by remote. Pretty cool stuff!

Either way, its going to be a ton of fun to make the first fender less PT ever! We will see how it goes!

Take er easy!

Hey, that looks great. Awesome work and concept. I second the thought that these will become a lot more popular. I got mine for $3K also as a salvage recovery and went to town.

I can tell where you got your front end and taillights...did you have any problems with that vendor? I sure did.

I used John Deere Blitz Black for paint---it's UV stable, tough as nails, and really cheap ($25/ gallon if I remember correctly). I used a flex agent for the bumpers.

I just posted a thread a few days ago on my little rat rod PT project here in Texas...I'm sure I'll be adding some pinstriping and other stuff to it in the future:

Finally finished with Petey

Here are some pics:
