Hi-
I bought the aftermarket key on Ebay and it worked like a charm.

Make sure it says it has the chip in it. My brand is "strattec"

I got it cut for free at Walmart after he said he had none with the chip (I already knew that )

Anyhow I have a 02 dream cruiser, just make sure it specs your vehicle and I would recommend getting 2 since they are soo expensive once you are down to 1 and are forced to pay their union dues and childrens tuition for a key.

Yes, there are several vendors on ebay that sell the blank transponder keys in pairs to save money. I think I paid about $17 for a pair earlier this year.

I figure that the service writer is going to lie to you (about the keys) for 2 reasons, about the key programming.

1. He really doesn't know what he's talking about, which I've seen many times. or

2. He figures that if you aren't going to read the owners manual Chrysler put in the car, and learn what your own car is all about, why shouldn't he charge you for it???

Autozone can program a key.

thanks,

i have a remote key, all black - from what i'm reading all black keys do not need programming? so i can just get a key and have it cut?

(ebay) shops sell a remote with buttons which also has the trunk release, it only works for the PTC convertible ?
