Default Transmission problem perhaps?

So heres the deal.. my 2003 PT Cruiser Limited automatic with 93,000 miles on it is acting up. When ever I am stopped at at red light I can feel the engine idling fairly rough. However, whenever I am on the highway, it runs just fine with no roughness. Could this be a transmission problem? And yes, my check engine light is on and began blinking one time while stopped at a red light. Please give me some advice!!

Engine idling rough wouldn't necessarily mean transmission. Have you had it from new? Has the plugs & wires ever been changed? Are you throwing any codes? Sorry about all of the questions, but the answers will help diagnose the situation.

Your first post was the high pitch noise, this one with rough idle all on a used 93k mile PT. Sounds like everything needs to be gone over and repaired or replaced. Your right on the border for having your timing belt, water pump, serpentine and alternator belt along with the tensioner replaced. It's not a cheap job but if you plan on keeping the cruiser, it has to be done.
