Default A question for the carnuts...

Do some of you get razzed for cleaning your cars?????My people on my block every time they walk by my driveway seem to always pass when I am shining, vacumming, waxing, etc......I have the label of having the cleanest car on the block. I get comments like"You are going to wash the paint off of that thing" " You must spend a bundle on wax" "Look how shiny those tire are""Are you washing your car again Mr.Carey""Our car never looked that clean even when it was new""We just wash our car at the carwash""Its just going to get dirty and scratched"etc etc etc......Its an addiction for me but I love it......The only other person with clean cars on my block is the guy with the Ferrari across from me.

No razzing. I did have a neighbor that would wash his car as soon as he saw me doing mine. What they do see as odd is when I rinse the underside during the winter months.

Phil,

I get the same kind if comments for doing twice the cleaning. I clean either of mine almost every time I take either of them out, wax each one about once a month and there's never a bit of fluff in the interior at any time. You can eat off the engine bays anytime plus I have to clean the floor about once a month moving both cars out and spending half a day on that. Good thing I'm retired. I don't mind the comments and have been asked numerous car questions by passers-by.

Hey their Guys,

Heck yeah! Back before I bought my pick up, my PT was both my toy, and our daily driver, and I was always trying to keep it as clean as I could! Like with all of my vehicles, I had a strict detailing schedule, and spent on average somewhere in the neighborhood of around 40 hours a month cleaning, and polishing to perfection! I am still one of the few guys I know around my neighborhood that actually waxes the underside of my hood, and behind the gas door, and polishes the AC Lines, and still takes off my rims to clean my wheel wells, and the back side of my wheels!

My neighbors think I'm nuts, but as long as I have a bottle of polish, and a microfiber rag, I will keep on polishing to that perfect shine!

Take er easy, and Shine On!

Oh ya. I am not as bad as I used to be when I was 18 though. Plus my PT is silver, and it's hard to see when it's dirty.

Wife and neighbors use to make the same comments to me, like I cared. When I was driving the PT, it got washed every weekend and sometimes during the week. With my son driving it now, it gets a bath about once a month.

I love a clean car....I have been like this since I was 16...I'm 40 now.....thats a lot of carwashes. I would rather do it myself than take it to a drive thru place for 20$....they do a shitty job.
