I had an 03 GT, all stock with a K&N and according to the speedo going across alligator alley between Naples and Ft Lauderdale I hit 126 mph with fat ex wife (200 pounds) in car. I didn't drag race it but I swear it did 0-60 in about 6.5 seconds according to the cell phone stopwatch and speedo and no ex.

Hey Guys,

All depends on which GT were talking about....

Is it normal to have the engine restricted to a top speed of 130? I have had my DC2 since new. I know its got the HO, and all I have done is round the pucks on the lifters, and reset the shifter points, and while messing around after, we ran her wide open down a long straight road, and actually pegged the sepdo at 140 both going, and coming back, and still had a little bit left over! I do know its restricted at ide to prevent revving up past a certain point, but for some reason its not doing it at top end. I have also noticed ever since new, my Turbo gives a little more of that sweet Turbo hiss than other DC's I have heard. Maybe mine was meant as one of their test cars, or something??? Wish I knew, but I have see her do it...twice....and boy it was pretty fast!

Take er easy!

Call me chicken, but I wouldn't go past 85-90mph in mine. I don't really think the PT was made to speed.

You shouldn't be that worried...surprisingly the pt handles exceptionally well at speeds over 100mph....very stable and taut...

I was astonished myself.

However, I am not sure how an n/a pt handles tho'.

CandyMan, you're totally correct! I've never taken mine past 120, but it's not because IT couldn't go there...it shifted out again at 100mph and gets that 120 quick! I just thought I should tune it down a bit...however I was on a long stretch of open highway....

Sorry, but your speedo must be off. It is limited to 130. My friend had to get a reprogrammed B&G pcm in order to have a 170 mph limit. That's how he was able to run in the 130 mph class at Bonneville. If you don't believe me that the limit is 130 then go here PTCrew.com - Learn it or Burn it. and tell them you were doing 140 and had more left (take your flak jacket ). We were told at Bonneville that you should be running with a GPS when going for the 130 and 150 mph club because the speedo can be off as much as 10 mph and you could break out for your bracket. Looks like your speedo is off.

Well I usually do drive alone and I don't have a fat wife like above...so I could probably do some good times...but I don't want a ticket.

Hey their Mean Green,

Yep sounds like it is off. Doesn't surprise me. What ever we were doin, it was way faster than I need to be going 4 sure! With no suspention, I am now low, and slow, so my speeding days are all over. 75 - 85 is pretty much the norm for So Cal Traffic, and that's pretty good for me! Thank you for the reply!
