I was wondering if anyone has replaced the PC74's with a LED equivlant. Since there is so much dis-assembly required to get at these bulbs I was looking for a longer term replacement.

The stock bulbs operate using 12Volts. If You can find 12 Volt LEDs it is a matter of adapting them to the lamp bases. If you find LEDs that operate at less than 12 Volts you will have to install a voltage regulator that can be adjusted to operate at the LED voltage. The trick is to isolate the dash lights from the original lead. Make sure the lower voltage feed the dash lights only. A word of caution. Some super bright LEDs are just that. Too bright for dash lights. Select your LED with care. Bottom line is that you will no longer be able to dim the dash lights. LEDs are like florescent lamps, you cannot dim them.

Thanks for your feedback GALVANIZEDYANKEE, I appreciate you sharing your knowledge on the subject. I usually keep my cars until they rust away and was looking for a easy fix to the dashlight issue.
