As long as you are not running on the crappy stock tires. Go for the PT steel rims and some good snow tires and you should be fine.

Cool Re: pt in snow

Prostreet,
I live her in OKcity, and we have about 2 months of really cold winter weather, and average around 10 inches of snow a year. I bought a set of low-profile Kumho's and aluminum whees - which ARE REALLY CRAP on ice & snow. I couldn't even get up a 15 degree slick slope at work. I find that with our rather mild winters, my OEM badyears (an all-season tire) do OK for here. I have a 5-speed NA also. I just go slow & steady.
But, if I were in your shoes in real winter land, I would have a set of snow tires!

Generally speaking fwd vehicles are good in the snow, and definitely go for the snow tires.

I got a set of Kelly Navigator Golds and they work AMAZING.

I live in Michigan where it seems like we average 10in of snow/week in the winter time. As previously stated, generally all FWD powertrains are descent in the snow with some quality tires.
