Default Seat Belt Chime?

Ok, I know I'm supposed to wear the seat belt at all times, and I do. However the chimes bother the heck out of me. How can I shut them off on my 06?

I know what your saying, 1lowufo... All I'm doing, is backing the Cruiser, out of the garage... I'm not going out on the road... I've gotten into the habit of clicking the seatbelt, into place, and then sitting on it, so I can move my PT Cruiser out of, and back into, the garage, without the chimes sounding for so long...
Oh, and no, I don't sit on the seatbelt, when I'm on the road...

Crewzin, that's cheap! Up here, I think the ticket is $125.

Their must be a way to turn off the chimes as my 2001 LE doesn't chime when I don't fasten the seat belt, just a light comes on in the instrument cluster.

In my younger years, I used to find where the chime was located and disconnected it, so it no longer would work. When I sold the auto I just reconnected it.

Of course, that was long before the seat belt laws came into effect, now I just put it on. As a ex fireman, I have seen what not wearing seat belts will do to the human body. Not a pretty sight, the chime is just a reminder to fasten the seat belt for your safety.

The seat belt chime is activated when the lap/shoulder belt is not across you. What I do is stretch it out behind me and wrap it around the right corner of the seat. It has nothing to do with plugging it into the receiving buckle end. As for disconnecting the chime, good luck since it is a huge liability even for the hole in the wall garage to do!
