Default New to form, but not new to site

Hi everyone!
I just wanted to say I have been reading the blogs on this site for a long time and they have been more then helpful, especially when dealing with the dealership.

My question is about my power steering.

When I am sitting still and turn the wheel in either direction I get a low hummmm noise I can hear inside the car but not outside. The dealer replaced the power steering pump and it has not eliminated the noise. The dealer let me try another PT (same yr, 18,000 miles), but it was a hard roof, not the convertible and it did not make the same noise. Is this normal to hear a light hummmm?
Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

We're just a few miles from each other, I'm in Lecanto.

No, the noise isn't normal. If you can hear it all the time and can easily let someone hear it, take it down to Crystal River, Crystal Chrysler/Dodge and let them try and find the problem. Yes, it's the same owner that owns both Inverness and Crystal River Chrysler dealerships (along with the Nissan and Chevrolet dealerships) but it's a different set of mechanics and if your still under warranty it doesn't matter where you take it to or how many times you take it back to get the problem fixed.

Hi,
Yea, I think I saw you last week in Inverness when you pulled up beside me.

I saw Darren at Crystal of Inverness and he had them replace the PS pump, but it did not do anything. He said I would have to find another vert to compare it to, which I have not been able to find since they do not have any.
It only does it when I am parked or have it completely stopped and turn the steering wheel. I guess I started to notice it when I put the top up for the first time in since June when I bought it.

Other then that noise I had the horn pad replaced for sticking, and the DS back window regulator replaced for clicking when it went down.

Actually, it sounds like he's doing a decent job of fixing your problems. Still, it's not normal for the steering wheel humming noise. Keep on top of it, drop by Crystal River and see if they have a Vert to compare it to.

See ya on the road and drive carefully on the west side of the county (CR491 splits the county) ...that's my side for patrolling.

Be sure to check the fluid constantly to see if there's a leak. Don't want that sucker to run dry. Also, check for CV boots leaking.

Hi Hooligan,
Mine came from Chrysler's car rental fleet with 11,500 miles on it. I do have to say Crystal Chrysler in Inverness is one of the best service dealerships I have been to ever.

TeaHead,
I do keep ontop of everything every 3 days and the fluid levels of everything have been the same for 8,000 miles. I will do more research about the CV boots.
Thanks

Especially with the Big 3 having trouble If you can find a good dealer, stick with them and also treat them right!
