2004 PT Cruiser; check engine light on, dashboard gauges off
When I turned my car on, the Check Engine light, the red dot above it, the seat belt light, and the interior lights all came on and stayed on. The dashboard gauges, including speedometer, pressure gauge, and gas gauge, did not work. The car still drives. However, when I turned off the car, the lights stayed on. My solution so far has been to disconnect the battery so that I can restart the car without having to jump it. Has anyone else encountered this problem and found a good solution for it? Thanks.

I ended up unplugging the positive battery cable, letting the car sit for a few hours, and plugging the cable back in. The car now works normally, but I will be keeping my eye on it!
