Default got Cruiser ... and back problems! please help!

have wanted a PT Cruiser since they were introduced, and finally got a one. beautiful 05 model. well-maintained - just greatness.

but since driving it I'm having some serious lower back pain issues! terrible!

I'd really like any and all ideas about this - anybody else? and I'd sure like to know what is in the lower lumbar portion of the driver's seat. it feels lumpy - like there are bars in there or something. anybody taken a part a driver's seat or know of an online diagram. I gotta make some changes here - the love of my life is killing my back!

Welcome Mark, unlike you I am on my 3rd cruiser because I found thais is the best riding vehicle for my back. I have had 3 open and 5 arthroscopic back surgeries.

Now to your question, there is a lumbar bar about 1/2 way down that is adjusted by rotating a small handle on the right side of the drivers seat, I usually have it turned so the handle is 1/2 way around, small end facing forward. Other than than I can't help you. Sorry.

hmm.... no lumbar adjustment in my 05? looked pretty hard for it - can't see any such adjuster.

is that something new on the 06 models? would an 06 seat neatly slide into my 05?

Huh....I would think that lumbar adjustment would still be in an '05. Mine is located on the right side of the drivers seat, toward the bottom. It is a small lever that could easily blend in with the seat. I hope you have one.

the writeup for the new 2006's heere The Second Generation: 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser says "manual lumbar adjustment with six way power seat."

so I'm thinking that is an 06 development...

anybody know if I can trade seats with an 06?

I have an 05 and it does have the lumbar adjustment, it is down low on the right side of the seatback under the arm rest by the floor console.

My 03 GT has the lumbar adjustment, and I don't have power seats. Find a wrecked 03 GT!

Buckeye,
The easiest solution would be to buy an aftermarket lumbar pad. They are available in most of the auto parts catalogs, like AutoSprt, auto outfitters.
