On the radio this morning they had someone giving reasons why they raised prices on food, and such when the gas prices went up but now that they have come back down, why they haven't lowered the prices yet. They used the excuse that the prices will go back up so instead of having to change prices, they will just leave them high and make all that extra profit for now. Of course when they do start to go back up, they will then have to raise prices!

Food prices have very little to do with gas prices, it's ethanol that ultimately caused the food prices to rise because it is made from corn and soy stock, this shot corn and soy prices up, as well as meat because corn and soy are used as food for livestock. and almost every food item you buy has some form of corn or soy in it. Gas prices however, are going down because of the decreased demand, the fact that other commodity prices are not going down with them is bad news for the economy. But then, what isn't bad new for the economy these days lol.

Transportation cost is a big deal--remember that your gas price is not the truckers diesel price--add about $1.00 per gallon for diesel.
Food for Thought-- During the oil crunch of the 1970's Diesel was going for $1.74 in San Diego, CA. In Tiajuana at the bus station I was buying it for $.18 per liter. Figure 4 liters per gallon roughly--$.72 per gallon. Now check out the Baja Penisula--not a single refinery to be found.....there is pipe line from the petro farm in Long Beach, CA---Somewhere along the pipeline the diesel lost about $1.00 a gallon in transit. Remember these were 1970's prices. I do believe in magic and UFO's. |

Enjoy it while you all can, ALL the so called experts are saying it's going higher than it was before and soon. While it's the holiday season the money you are saving in fuel prices go buy and help our economy and buy MADE IN USA NOT MADE IN CHINA. We did it to ourselves for buying their cheap crap.

Here in Indy, it was $1.33 at a few stations, now this morning I see it at $1.78. Probably due to Christmas shopping over the weekend and they figuring everyone will be filling up their tanks. Around here it always seems to go up just before a big holiday or major sporting event, like the Indy 500, and then goes back down after they think most cars have filled their tanks.
