Default 2007 Dashboard lights flickering

My 2007 PT Cruiser recently has flickering dashboard lights for the instrument panel (speedometer, odometer, fuel/temp). The radio is not affected, nor are any other electrical system. At first I was thinking it was a fuse, but it flickers when I turn on the lights.

I am looking at a few locations. Either loose ground, loose fuse or lose wire. The first two I am capable of repairing the latter (wire) is beyond my scope.

Has anyone experienced this before, or is aware of where to go next?

Unhappy Re: 2007 Dashboard lights flickering

I noticed mine doing that as well. Shortly there after on a very cold morning (11 degrees) It was very sluggish in starting. Had NAPA check the CCA on the relatively new battery (11 months) and found they were very low. I replaced the battery and have noticed the flickering was gone. My timing belt broke within 4 days of that so.... 1 step forward, 2 GIANT steps back.

Happy New Year!!

My car also had a few days when it started slowly but just a second or two of sluggishly turning over in below 0 weather. But today is like 50's, and it started w/o incident. However, I may need to get a new battery. Better than replacing the alternator anyway.

Let me test that. Thanks.

My instrument panel is having the same problem but I also noticed that the blinkers both front and back have failed. I don't know if this is related but it sure is annoying. any tips would be appreciated.

SilverPT, Multifunction stalk on the left side of the steering wheel. If you do a search you will find that it is a "will fail" part, it get hot in there and lights start to NOT light up.

It is still happening, and my battery was tested as good. It happens when I first start up, it will work, then after a few minutes then goes off. If I toggle my lights on/off, it will come up but is flickering for a few seonds and goes off. This "will fail" part, what does that mean? Is it easily repaired/replaced?

The Multifunction switch is a very cheaply made part and when light start to flicker etc. many times it has been traced back to the MF switch. Not hard to change, there are 2 MF, one for fog lights and one for no fogs. Remember to take the flasher off of the old one and put it on the new one.

Is it out of warranty? If not take it to the dealer for repair.
