Cruiserdad76 ,,,(is right on),,, around town-short trip-9miles to work for me 18.5 consistant... if I drive like a snail maybe 21mpg when gas hit $4 but thats not realistic! Our gas today has 10%+ ethenol so that hurts! I just drove consistant hihway at 80mph and got 20.6mpg(my Pt has 65K mile, platinum plugs,K&N drop in,is an automatic-non-turbo-correct air-pressure-waxed(laughing) you get the drift ,,it is what it is,,, It has 65K miles,,, and its mine!(owned-2003) I had 2VW's that got about 4mpg gallon better but repairs that nickled & dimed you way worse that the PT..also the PT is very cheap to insure! Do a spread sheet on the whole picture, its actually avery cheap car to own (Chrysler is very dumb on not taking it to the next level like Honda & Toyota did with the Corrolla & Accord. ** a 6speed automatic and better 4,, a few other improvements-tighter turning radius & they sell millions more! But we all know little... good luck and steal one cheap now!****

I have been doing alot of research about vehicles in my price range.
I took a rav4 out today which is fully loaded and all wheel drive. tons of room and gets better mileage than the pt.
crazy
I still like the 2004 gt way better and the only thing i dont like is the poor mileage.

I did come across some numbers for the 2009 pts that look a lot closer to reality.

2.4L DOHC 16V 4-cyl. 4-Speed Automatic Transmission 150 hp
19 city / 24 hwy[5] 150 hp
19 city / 24 hwy[5]

2.4L DOHC Turbo 4-cyl. 4-Speed AutoStick® Transmission - 180 hp
18 city / 24 hwy[5] 180 hp
18 city / 24 hwy[5]

thanks for the all the responses, helps a lot.

There is a Turbo which is a GT, I don't think they are being made anymore, it uses Premium gas and

a Turbo Lite which started in '05 (I believe) used regular gas, which now is the Turbo.

There where no stats on the gt turbo for 09. I'm not sure if they are made anymore either.

I am pretty sure the high output turbo GT is no more unfortunately. Although I would like to add a turbo to my collection now.

Cannot speak about the turbo mileage, but my 2008 LX auto is getting about 23mpg now with 80highway/20city. Really short trips are the killer, I used to work 3 miles away from my house and my gas mileage was falling into the 17s.

21-24 city, 28-32 Highway. But I have a light foot and shift between 2000-2500rpm. Runs great.
