Hi everyone, my first post here. Sorry its a question!
We have a 2.2 Limited Diesel cruiser already which Mrs Oddie uses, but I've seen a 2 litre petrol Cruiser that I might buy for me. The only downside is that it has done 85,000 miles. I guess my question is, is that too high a mileage to consider? What kind of distance are the petrol engines good for? I think it has been serviced regularly and has service history. Thanks for any advice

Hi, you're right, we're here in the UK
![]() I guessed that the engine should handle more than 100,000 with maintainence. It seems that a timing belt change is due round about 90,000 miles though?? |

well over here the timing belt is due between 90,000 and 100,000 cost bout $1000 which is just stupid high but it is what it is
the axle beaning or wheel bearings what ever you call them usually die as well way before they should and along with the timing belt the water pump and maybe the oil pump I really haven't heard about a lot of other stuff other than just normal wear items |

I purchased my 2001 LE a year ago with 116,000, it now has about 128,000 and is going strong. Other than oil changes, tires and such, I've had no other maintenance done.

Thanks for the replies
![]() I guess it should be OK then. Mrs Oddies diesel only has 32,000 on the clock so a higher mileage PT was something of an unknown quanitity to me. Sounds good to go! |

The his n hers element puts me off somewhat ... but I was thinking of turning mine into an evil twin of Mrs Oddies ... lowered, bit of pinstriping, etc. That could be cool. |

If you look on UKCruisers, there are lots of reports of suspension rubber "bushes" (I guess anything Bush whould be a clue at failure...) they call them (here it's bushings) that repair shops say need replacing. There is no similar high failure rate of them here...
Timing belt is major item at 90-100,000 miles. I assume it's a manual, if it's an auto, be sure and have the transimssion fluid changed and be sure they use only ATF + 4. If you can have it done, I'd have a mechanic look it over & do a compression check.
