She's back!
I was one of those guys that waited 9 months for my PT to come in back in 2000. Even though I'm younger and get made fun all the time for it, I've had it ever since! I've modified it different ways, most importantly though is a Whipple Supercharger, lowering springs and 17" chrome wheels. I have every piece of documentation on it, including all service records and advertisements from before the car was produced. Its even been on 3 cross country trips.
Over time I could tell it just wasn't running well. It just felt sluggish and rough and like I had no control of the car at anything over 50 mph. TONS of time and money later, and learned the hard way that what I need was to replace the catalytic converter, O2 sensor, MAP sensor, timing belt, change the shocks and struts to Tokicos, and get a solid alignment and wheel balance. If only I could have just known what the problems were, I would have fixed them. But diagnosing the problems were what took the most time and money. Well now it finally runs better than it did brand new. I'm so happy to have my PT back! It feels quick, smooth and handles great.
I hope it can continue to run this well for years to come. My wife and I have been through 19 cars, (yes, I'm a little nuts), but the PT has and always will be around. She's sort of in retirement now since I only drive her on nice days, but I never plan on getting rid of her.
Anyway, just excited that I finally got the car driving well again...
