Default Interior question...2006 PT

I recently bought a 2006 PT Cruiser...and am getting ready to install an aftermarket satellite radio that can either a) mount on top of the dash, or b) mount just under the dash near the shifter.

I really would rather have it near the top of my dash, but that will require either removing the fascia from the center console area (around the radio, A/C, etc), or removing the top cover of the dash (the long piece with the dash speaker slots and defrost slots) so that I can route the wiring so it's not really visible. If I mount under the dash, the wiring would be easy to route/hide, but the radio would be less visible, and MIGHT interfere with the cupholders.

The question is this: How much of a pain is it to remove either of those? Which one is easier to remove/reinstall? I tried searching for some info in the boards here, but cannot come up with anything conclusive. If anyone has any info on removing either of these it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Red face Re: Interior question...2006 PT

The most important question is......a safety question!
Would you be looking down at your shifter area a lot; versus "eyes on the road"???

Hahaha, after I typed and posted that I figured someone would say something along those lines.

Actually, I listen to one station on the way to work, and a different one on the way home...I rarely if ever change stations while driving. As well, this is why it's the "less desirable" installation location.

SDC...thanks for the link

The top cover of the dash is easier to remove, as long as it will give access to route the wires you need. The radio bezel is also real easy to remove, it just takes a couple tools and a few more minutes.

Cool Re: Interior question...2006 PT

That really was my "drift".
If you don't change stations much, I'd personally rather have the dash area clear!
