Default Best/Cheapest place for replacement Key Fob?

The buttons on my keyless entry have come off and I was wondering where the best or cheapest place to get a new one would be.

I have a 2005 model. If I buy one online do I then have to take it to the dealer to activate?

Thanks all,

Bill

Thanks for the link, Crewzin! That helps a lot.

But it seems when I do an eBay search, 99% of the keyless fobs are for 2001 - 2004. Did they change somehow from 2005 and up? (I have a 2005).

Would a 2001-2004 fob work OK with my 2005?

Thanks...

Sorry, don't know when they changed but at sometime I know the key itself had the buttons on it rather than a separate fob.

Hopefully someone with an 05 or newer cruiser will come along here and explain what and when they changed.

I did a fast search and from what I could see, it's the 06+ keys that are different. Your should be the same as the 01-04. Lets wait till someone who knows comes along.

I mean, my 2005 fob looks exactly the same as previous years, I just didn't know if the electronics changed somehow.

Does your fob look like this?

For my 2001 there's no button for the trunk, just lock, un-lock and panic. The ad says it fits 05 convertibles.

No just unlock and panic - no trunk...

It is confusing

Your fob sounds exactly like mine (lock, unlock, panic) but your right, the ads on eBay say 01-04.
