Unhappy auto-door lock or electric problem?

So I dont know if this is a common problem, or if anyone who has had this problem help me with tips...

So my automatic door locks kept locking (like possesed, or ocd) even when it was already locked it would keep locking itself. So I tried taking the battery out of the clicker because I thought it was a faulty clicker that kept triggering the lock button. Turns out it wasnt the clicker, it is something in the car. I had to take the door lock fuse out because the locks wouldnt stop locking and it killed my battery. NOW there is something in behind the dash that keeps trying to turn on and off (clicking) but I dont know what it is and it hasnt drained my battery so I havent taken to much stock in it, but I do need to get this annoying problem fixed.

So is it an electrical problem? Where do I start looking or should I just take it into a shop?

Any help is much appreiciated!
Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

Your problem is most likely the RKEM (Remote Keyless Entry Module) located in the dash. If your not handy with working on your car, the dealer or trusted mechanic will have to replace it.

Ya It is kinda scary and annoying! I checked into replacing the whole unit, so I will ask about their oppinion when I know I got the $$ in the first place... Is there an easy way to see wether it is a short or a faulty alarm?

i had (have) a similar problem, the doors lock down, and keep going. kinda click, click, click, click sometimes for 10-15 seconds. its never conituous and has never deadened the battery but is annoying - sometimes when i hit the central locking on the driver door, it relieves the prob, sometimes it doesnt.
i hadnt heard it happening for nearly a year, but started again last week.
any ideas?
