Default Condensation inside taillights?

Does anyone know how to prevent condensation from forming inside the taillights of my wife's '07 PT?

Ron

Are you sure you don't have a crack in the lenses letting moisture in that is then condensing from being heated by sun, a warm garage, etc? Can't tell where you live so those are only a guess.

I've had my '01 for over a year, it sits outside in the rain and snow (no garage), I've never had moisture of any type in the housings, so reason for question on crack in lenses.

Take the taillights out (one screw) and check the connections of the bulb holders to make sure they are tight and also look at the back of the lights the same as Garyerrol just said, for cracks in the back of the lights and around the edges.

Thanks guys, I'll give it a look this weekend.
By the way, we're in North Carolina, near Charlotte.

Cool Re: Condensation inside taillights?

When the bulb socket is turned and locked into place, there should be a plastic or rubber washer there to "seal" the bulb socket area. You could remove the washer (making sure there is one there) and lube both sides with vaseline or dielectric grease to be sure there isn't a leak.
-Otherwise, it's a cracked plastic lens, unless proved otherwise.

I'm having this same problem with my '08, only it's on the front left headlight. The daytime running light has gone out and I noticed a lot of moisture under the headlight cover today. Is there just one screw holding the front headlight in place and how difficult will it be to replace the light and correct the problem? Thanks for any help in advance.

The front headlights are a different matter. A lot of work to replace those. Check the bulb connections first, just like the tail lights. There's a flap in the front wheel wells. Remove the flap for access to the head light bulb connections and check to make sure they are sealed properly.
