PT Cruiser studdering/jerking

My 2003 PT Cruiser (non-turbo) is jerking/studdering when it is either on Reverse or Drive. It tends to do it when I am going less than 10MPH or when my foot is on the brake (on a red light). It tends to minimize when the car is all warmed up. I had the computer diagnostics done and told me it was due to Fuel Injection, Fuel Throttle Body, Throttle Switch, and Air/Fuel Mixture. I think this might be a result of never changing my fuel filter. I read that a bad fuel filter may cause damages to the Fuel Injection. Does this make sense? In this case, does the Throttle switch, fuel injection, and throttle body have to be replaced or just cleaned? I read in a post that this may be caused by cables and wires. But didn't specify what cables and wires. Spark plug cables? Thanks for the help!

The fuel filter in by the gas tank, and I've never read of it being a problem, and it would cause problems at high speed, not low speed.
What diagnostics?
Usually, people start with plugs/wires - stock wires are crap - I like Cranes -
get 'em at www.RaceAndStreet.com - the stock plugs - Champions are okay - gap at 0.040.
