Default Am I being dupe here.. turn ligh signal

Just got me a used 2007 PT Cruiser Limited Edition. Got home, and noticed that the right hand turn signal doesn't stop blinking after turning. The left turn signal is fine and turns off after the turn.

I called the dude that sold it to me and he said that's fine, that its a 'feature' of the PT Cruiser, tried googling about it but I couldn't find anything. Is he fooling me here and not wanting to fix?

Yes, he's fooling (LYING) to you. I found this in a search about that problem....

I think the issue has to do with a mechanical problem in the multifunction switch/clock spring interface of the steering column. When you complete the turn there is a canceling cam that in on the clockspring, which is a replaceable part on the steering column (allow for the horn wires etc. to be mounted in the steering, e.g. a flexible coupling whose wires are like a clockspring), and that is supposed to interact with cancelling finger (actuator) of the multifunction switch proper. Probably the finger is sticking in place, or the cam is misaligned/cracked and not making proper contact with the finger.

Many owners have had problems with the mulltifunction switch but usually in the older PT's. I'd just take it back and raise stink to where you bought it and tell them that they're full of "BULL" and both signals should auto cancel.

Cool Re: Am I being dupe here.. turn ligh signal

Considering the situation.....
Hope that this is the only problem you "discover"!

No, he's not 'duping' you, he's flat-out lying! (Only car I ever saw that in was my old '63 Corvair, and I forgave her that quirk since she was heading for antique status at the time: any car that old and with that many miles gets forgiven a LOT if she's still willin' to run!)

A nearly-new Cruiser? Nope, sorry, like somebody upthread said, it's probably a problem with the multifunction switch, 'cause its sure NOT a "feature" on a Cruiser!
