More on grinding
Well I got grinding noise when I applied the breaks. I have heard this noise several times on other cars and it is usually the break pads need to be replaced. So without inspecting the pads I went out and got a set for the front and rear. I took the front wheels off and looked at the pads. I could find nothing wrong in fact they looked like nearly new pads, but as I had bought them already I replaced them. I went to the rears and took off the wheels, looked at the break pads and they looked great, almost new, but I replaced them too. When I put the PT back on the road the grinding noise was gone so I thought even though the breaks looked new there must have been something wrong with them. WRONG!!!! After a few days the grinding noise started again.
Now I have read hear about wheel bearings and grinding noises relating to them. I have had many cars that have had their wheel bearings go bad. In my experience when a bearing goes bad, the grinding noise is there most of the time as the wheels spin. But the grinding noise I get is only when I break. It does not happen when I am coasting or going around a corner or anything just when I break. Any idea as to what this could be. I checked for any abnormal wear and tear on the brakes rotors and hubs and nothing.
