Permatex makes a kit available at Advance Auto parts, and Pep boys. A series of wet sanding high grit sandpaper, then a final polish. It works very very well and costs $20. WIthin a year they well again be fogged. A sealant is needed.

Someone posted on here a few weeks ago about just such a product. You sanded, wiped it down, sanded some more, more wiping, then put on a sealant, I believe two applications and you were done. When it warms up a bit more, I'm going to try it on mine. It's not so much that I think the light output has diminished a lot, it's more that the headlights look crappy when clouded over on an otherwise great looking Cruiser.

The ultimate cure is New Headlights... And to keep them waxed right along with the car. The Sun's UV rays are no joke!!

I agree, however at eighty to ninety dollars a light, twenty to twenty-five dollars for a kit that if done right will make them almost look, if not, new sounds awful tempting to many of us.

My company just did a video on this subject it will air on old cars television in the Spring...go to Well-Worth Products, Inc. go to products and click on the coating section...you will see a product that is called see well headlight...This is a PROCESS. You have to tape off the area around the headlight and SAND the polycarbonate. Then you spray an actual UV coating on the headlight...Then the headlight has to sit facing the sun to cure as most of us don't have a UV cure light kicking around in their garage. WOW it looks like new. We have tried all different kits/chemicals etc...as we do this for warranty at the dealer. This is the best!!! Any questions, LeakPro Intro Page

I have tried about 12 different chemicals from different companies and none work like this well worth product. I don't sell it, so I will always give an unbiased opinion as you know from my various posts. John

Well I would say save up for new lamps. There is always ebay too where you can find some for a decent fee new or used...

Walmart just starting offering a service to repair headlights. I think the charge is $40 and they get excellent results.

I used this on my son's '98 car - worked great - and it has a sealer:

Site doesn't come up now, but I've read some found it at AdvanceAuto.
