Tara,

Be happy with what you have. Unless your going to throw a Nitrous kit or bolt on a supercharger (if they are still making them for the PT) the other add-ons aren't going to give you anywhere near what the GT is putting out and they have the built up engine to stand up to the turbo. The N/A engine doesn't. The chip your probably talking about is the JET and for $260 you can get a whopping 14hp. Here's one place selling them if your interested.

I agree with CREWZIN. If you want to throw away money at least give it to a charity where it will do some good.

{I third everyone.}.. My Pt when bought new was sluggish but since new Ive installed a K & N drop in...( tried Borla duals- in my opinion a waste-just loud-removed them...you loose the bottem end torque anyway..) but something that did work was my mechanic at time flashed the computer with an upgrade-world of difference!Ive driven both stick & automatic GT's(they aqre quick once turbo kicks in-but still not as fast as a 285HP Caliber SRT!!0 but in normal driving mines fine-really..(its not a race car but will keep up with all traffic no problem) try that-worth the $100!! MJB or try Nitrous for $800!

Until the Diablosport Predator came out this past year there was no way for individuals to flash the stock pcm. Only Flight Systems could do it and they were contracted to do it for Chrysler/Dodge. So I don't know how your mechanic could flash your pcm. He was pulling your leg.

MJB457,

Let me intervene by saying that you said "my mechanic" and didn't mention that it was a Chrysler dealer as you did on your second post. That's what MG was referring too. Chrysler dealers did, of course, have access to the equipment to be able to flash upgrades that came out. Just not the mechanics as local garages. "Flashes" have been coming out to cure problems since 2001 for the models that were made in 2000 like mine. If the "Flash" you received cured whatever problem you had or just straightened your PT up to make it run better, that's great. It won't work for everybody and Chrysler doesn't "Flash" every car that comes into the shop. You have to have a problem and I believe you have to pay for it as you said, about $100, but well worth it if it works.

Thanks CREWZIN, that's what I meant. Knowing it was a Chrysler tech meant he had access and the PT was flashed for a problem that was happening. My wife's '04 got flashed at the dealer because the engine kept dying. They will flash for problems, but not to add any extra hp/power.

No worries. You never know what a mech will tell you these days. What was the problem you were having with your PT or was it just a flash that Chrysler was doing because of a TSB?
