Slight correction....only if there is "demand" for the part. And the manufacturer determines the "demand". And as I recall, there is actually no "federal" law whatsoever. Could be wrong, but I'd bet a Big Mac on it.

I think the resale is zilch because of rental car/fleet flooding by the manufacturer, and our present economic/big 3 situation.
Dealers here are advertising new PT's for less than what many 2 year old models are advertised for. Granted they may be base models vs. Limiteds, but still, it destroys resale. |

Though I do worry about getting parts for my Getrag trans, there were not many 5-speed GT's made to begin with, then Chrysler fired Getrag as a parts maker for their cars. So with tax return money I will be looking at finding and hiding a complete Getrag in the garage.

The silver 03 GT is gone, but a Solstice has arrived. There are three more PT's to play with though ![]() My personal thanks to veteran and novice crewbies that have offered information and how-to's they have been instrumental in taking LiquidPT from modded car to stock to live a more quiet and sedate life. |

I think it's the retro styling. We bought ours because my wife thought it was "cute". Our last vehicle was a pickup, but she's too small to drive it comfortably. The PT fits me, at 6 ft. and her, at 5'1". I was surprised at the power and smoothness of the little engine. All the amenities surprised us too. Not bad mileage if you drive it right.
I'm 79, my wife is 78. |

The thread has certainly covered the reasons the PT is a cheap ride right now. No doubt a combination of.
1 General malaise in the auto industry, particularly domestic brands. 2 The PT is something of an unusual design esthetically. You either like it or not. 3 Lots of "program" cars coming on the market, rentals etc. 4 Perceived and real maintenance concerns specifically Domestic>Chrysler>PT Cruiser. 5 Required maintenance sticker shock causing increased trades. 6 Relatively lousy fuel efficiency. They are definitely cheap. In my area used PT's with similar age and miles that mine had on it when I bought it are going for a little over half what I paid for mine ...... What did you expect to hear on a PT enthusiast's site, don't buy one?
There's a thread titled what color calipers should I run……. These guys are more worried about show than go. ![]() I come here when I need to know how to fix or maintain the wife's PT. Rest assured, you will be back for that purpose.
