Code P0441

Hello everyone! I have a 03 Pt Cruiser Dreamcruiser with 62K miles on it.

I got a check engine light on and the error code that came up is:

P0441 which says Evaporative Purge Flow System not working properly.

Any insights as to what I can do to fix this (cheaply if possible).

P0441 Evap Purge Flow Monitor -Insufficient or excessive vapor flow detected during evaporative emission system operation.

A Diagnostic Trouble Code indicates that the Powertrain Control Module has recognized an abnormal condition in the system. DTC's are the results of a system or circuit failure, but do not directly identify the failed component or components.

Possible causes for P0441 include:

Intermittent Condition
Checking Evap Purge Solenoid Functionality
Evap Purge Solenoid Vacuum Supply

You will need a DRB III scan tool and diagnostic manual to troubleshoot the issue.

It's often the gas cap - either not seated properly or you need a new one.

Thanks for the info. Is this scanner available at a local parts store like autozone or do I need a dealership service to get it checked?

Yes it is available at the dealer but any decent mechanic at a decent repair/maintenance facility will also have one and charge a lot less per hour to diagnose your PT.
