I've owned both a 05 GT turbo w/auto and a 03 base 5speed na(nonturbo, naturally aspirated).
Fun factor of the GT is awesome, if you wanta play and like to go fast where you can get away with it.
The base 03 with 5speed is more than adequate on power, will cruise at 80 or more, gets good mileage in town or hiway.
But it ain't a GT and if you drive both, you'll see the difference. I really miss being able to leave traffic behind at partial throttle, cruising at omg speeds and leaving kids in ricers behind.
One I would stay away from in a rental special....nonturbo with automatic. You'll be disappointed with the power and economy imo.

Well I'm going to see it in person tomorrow morning, just a short 3 hour drive away. Hope it's finished snowing by then! (I'm in ND...was 81 yesterday!)

Saw my banker this afternoon, and financing is a go. Maybe will drive it home tomorrow afternoon, if it passes muster from a mechanic and the wife. Of course her criteria are a little different from mine, but I think once she sees the leather interior, satellite radio, power moon roof and heated seats, she'll be won over.

Throttle body spacer doesn't do anything.

The Throttle body spacer was developed to enhance mid-range power, torque and fuel efficiency it causes a spinning action of the incoming air-fuel mixture as it passes through the throttle body. This is a beneficial mixture change that carries all the way to the combustion chamber, producing a better-atomized mixture, which produces small gains power and overall efficiency. The proof is in the pudding, real world 26 to 28 in town MPG.

May its new owner enjoy it as much as we did. We do still have a 2007 Limiter PT in Cool Vanilla with no mods and two HHRs now.

I hate to get into this argument again. It's been hashed out all over the internet and all the forums. I believe it was MX-5 (our resident GURU on all things mechanical especially PT Cruiser related) who did some research on the spacers and had communications with the manufacturer where they unconvincingly say there an increase in HP and fuel economy but that the results aren't or couldn't be documented or measured. WHAT??? Can't be measured ???

The below is my opinion and you know what they say about opinions.

Thank about it. On our fuel injected cars the spacer is behind the TB so the amount of air is restricted by the opening of the TB. There's no more fuel being injected so what does the spacer do?

From Google search:
How is it supposed to work? A throttle body spacer is designed to straighten the airflow snaking through the crooked plumbing of a vehicle's factory air box and intake tubing. The idea is that the straightened flow is much more prone to efficient atomization, pairing better with fuel molecules and burning more completely than before. Some spacers even offer another twist: a machined vortex pattern in the surface that swirls the incoming air, much like the integrated parts in GM's Vortec engines (you've probably also seen this in products like the Tornado).

Now, do you think that's all going to work going threw our 4 separate runners a few feet down the intake, and one more thing; if it was that easy to produce 1-3 more miles to the gallon, don't you think the car manufacturers would be throwing these and other devices (Tornado, fuel line magnets etc.) in the cars to meet the CAFE measurements of their fleet?

Bottom line, it's up to you. I say anyone who buys one, drives differently because they are looking for better mileage or if they're looking for better performance then it's all what they "think" they feel.

One more thing; I do believe these things might work on a vehicle with a carburetor.

Agree with you and MeanGreen 100%. The carb spacers were more for removing the carb from the manifold heat, supposedly reducing air temps(like running good on a cool morning). All these atomizers, turbonators, etc...they work great at removing your money from your wallet.
Now if you want to talk about 300mpg "mystery" carburetors accidentaly installed at the factory....I had this uncle who picked up this hitchhiker with a beard and wearing a robe while driving his new Buick back to the dealer to see why the gas gauge wasn't moving..........

It's officially part of our fleet!

Thanks to everyone who helped me feel confident in making this purchase. (Actually, it was a no-brainer)!
