Default Rear Brakes

The rear brakes on my PT sound like they are metal to metal when I first start driving. It's espescially bad when I back up. It's been this way for years however the drums and shoes look fine. Wud up wid dat?

normal

Its been that way since the early 01 cars. Mine does it to this day.

We have kinda figured out that if you were to swap out the drums/shoes it would probably stop. But since there is nothing wrong with them a good cleaning and grease is about all you can do..

The groan on backing up though is just the flash rust going away, a good sign that your brakes are working.

My personal thanks to veteran and novice crewbies that have offered information and how-to's they have been instrumental in taking LiquidPT from modded car to stock to live a more quiet and sedate life.

My PT2000 Limited. Disk rear sounds the same as yours and it has done it from day one and never a problem. Andy

The brakes look and work great. It at times sounds like finger nails down a chalk board. Kind of hard to sneak in after after a hard night out with the boys.
