Default PT vs. Neon vs. Caravan

Hi everyone, my name is Juan and I'm new to the forum.

I end up buying this 21k miles '05 PT from a co-worker and as I'm getting aquainted with it I'd like to ask you a few questions.

I understand that the engine is basically a stroker Neon's engine. Is this right?

What about the front end?

Does it share its fundations with other chrysler products such as the Caravan or the Neon?

And the auto tranny?
Is it the 2.4 Caravan's

I remember that I promised to never buy chrysler a again after my experiences with a '95 Neon. I'm concerned that the PT transmission shakes sightly while in 2nd speed.

I still have 40 months of powertrain warranty but as far as i know, I need to pay a $ 150 to get transferred to me.
Would a dealer consider repairing the transmission under warranty?
What 's your experience & what do you suggest?

Hi cost is 0 to transfer but $100 per power train occurance what Ive been told...( call Chrysler with vin #) Id get tranny checked-shouldnt shake at all..(actually not a bad trans if maintained approx 30-35K flush) Engine is different than Neon-mounted different & more HP & torque.Supposedly better head gasket also.Front end same as any bushing suspension- they wear out. Id just get a good checkup all around & drive it! Good luck! MJB

It does cost $150 to transfer the warranty AND you have to do it within 30 days of purchase. I know, I just bought my newest Cruiser back in March.
