Default Keep getting locked IN to my PT!

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and recently purchased a 2008 PT Cruiser. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. My driver side door handle is not working from the inside, it keeps locking me inside the car. I have however been able to roll down the window and can open it from the outside which is so much more convenient! I know I am needing to visit the dealer about this however I hoped maybe there was a simple fix to this. TIA!

Sounds like a problem inside the door. There is a rod that connects the inside door handle with the latch. It must have come disconnected some how. Should be an easy fix.

Warranty? Did the dealer you bought it from offer anything?

If it is inside the car I assume its the cord that plugs into the handle that activates the switch.

But can be either depending how your trying to get out haha

Update: I took the door apart today and found that the rod had not slipped off, but I put some WD-40 on the spring that the rod pulls and so far so good. It has not happened again. So I will cross my fingers!

It is obviously still under warranty has only 11000 miles but I like to try to tackle things myself rather than take it in to the dealer.

Thanks to everyone for your help!

I gota hand it to ya'. I would never do something myself that is covered by the warranty.
I'd be afraid they'd say I cause further damage by doing it myself!
