ANTI FREEZE CHANGE OR WAIT???

Ok My 2003 PT has 70K miles.It developed a very slight leak( I used a half of tube of BARS Leak and now 1k miles later -ok) anyway manual says anti-freeze is good for 100K miles) someone now just told me that alluminum radiators seem to get leaks because antifreeze breaks down & eats it?? & another leak will eventually develop?) so do i leave well enough alone---or change it & add more Bars Leak? ?? ) thanks MJB

If yer not using the correct antifreeze, you'll eat your radiator.

It has to be a HOAT antifreeze, Hybrid Organic Acid Technology. If you use the wrong antifreeze you can get bad corrosion in your system and/or your waterpump could fail. Keep in mind it's a 5 year/150k mile antifreeze. It's not like you are changing it every year. It's not that expensive when you average it out over it's life expectancy.

It's 5 years or 100k. You are overdue and Bars leak is garbage and at best a bandaid. Find out what's wrong and get it fixed or you could possible blow your motor and especially warp the aluminum head.
