Haha when you reset the system it tells you that your mileage is about 29-30 immediately.

I would like to test the system sometime though

It could be right on......but for what period of time? It's certainly not a per tankful everage, which your longhand computations should be.

If I remember the convo I had w/the tech (mentioned before), he told me the trip computer takes a running cumlative average (meaning the average since the last reset).

So I can see over time, my computations and the running averages to be close; if not spot on. I try not to disconnect the battery terminals, so the running averages would be fairly consistent to the actual mileage (my computations). I do notice larger variances (between my comps and the trip) when I take long drives (highway). So that makes sense too.

In my experience, most modern economy meters are preatty accurate.. usually within 1mpg or less.

It don't make a rat's ass to me nit pickin the MPG..It will be 20-22 average normal mixed driving here in the hilly country...I just fill it up when it gets below 1/4 tank...I really enjoy driving the little car and just put gas in it when it needs it..

I agree, I fill it when I need to, but I post it at Fuelly so everyone can see my "Braggin'" rights.

I think if you want to brag it up, post it. Now flame on, all!!!!

On my trip back from Dallas the best I got was 21.37. The best I've got so far in 9 fill ups was 25.6 and the little woman was runnin' the hell out of it. That was probably due to a short fill up because the next tank was 21.20 highway. The last tank was 21.04 (all city). All these are actual mileage/gallons, not an electronic read out. I just think it's pure BS that a 500 hp Corvette will get better gas mileage than a wimpy (comparatively) PT.
