That's about what I get. It's usually a little higher in town but I drive like an old lady.

Driving like an old lady seems to help! I'm more in that camp, today, than I used to be with the Talon!
I like making the trips last longer......gives me more time in the Cruiser!

i find that if i drive slow as hell that i actually get worse milage than when i just drive it normally. But i probably get the worst gas milage with 17ish. I suspect something with the alternator? Im running a 2400 watt amp to my 13w7 sub and another 800 watt amp for my door speakers with no cap in the car

usually if you drive slower, like not putting a lot of pressure on the gas pedal you use more MPG's because your taking longer to get up to the speed limit. in the city i keep my RPM's under 2200 and for the highway under 3000. and i drive only 55 on the highway, so, if you dont go over 2000 rpm in the city you will most likely get 17-20mpg as compared to running it to 2200 and getting 20-22MPG. from what i tested.

do you think the audio system does anything to my mpg's? someone told me this and in my head it kinda makes sense. The engine has to run harder to run the alternator to pump all that power into my speakers

Having a system on will NOT affect gas mileage.

But you have to find a happy medium with ALL cars. When I had my rwd v8's, I found shifting as early as the car can handle was best. With my honda, shifting around 3k rpms is best, and with the pt around 2-2200 rpms is best. Every car is different.

I had a 2006 Limited that had the readout and my 2008 Touring also has it. Not sure if the '09 LX or Basic has it. Please do not rely on the read out for anything other than "it's possible". Ours usually reads 19.+ and when I enter it into Fuelly and figure it with a pen it reads 20 - 21+

I'm not sure what years had it but it's an available option that had to be ordered. That computed MPG is know for being a long ways off too.
