winshield wiper question

I brought my 2006 PT GT in for a windshield wiper problem covered under the warranty. The problem is this.....the wipers dont park...they stay up above the usual position and the high speed no longer works. The dealer told me that there is "module" that controls the wipers and it is on back order. My question is this........does this module exist???? Or is the dealer jerking me off until they find the real problem.

BTW....I tried using the "ask a PT mechanic" and that was a waste........

if he mentioned the "multifunction switch" yep that would be the culprit and there are a couple things when you swap a multifunction switch you are supposed to take off yours and install in the new one.

1-being the wiper module including the stalk
2-hazard flasher button aka controler.

Problem with that is that your part is broken so he has to order the wiper controler/stalk since those are not made in huge numbers it could take a while.. Bankruptcy on top of a high demand part and a low demand part= annoying wait times..

Not total BS, just annoying BS.. Hope that helps.

Unless he is going to swap the actual motor under the wiper cowl in the engine bay - then just find a junker and pick one up cheap.. Yours being an 06, I can't say for sure its the same for all years, since they did a lot of electrical changes in 06. So if needed look for an 06+ car and pick it out of willing donor.

I have the same problem they say the body control module .. as I replaced the motor and the multifunction switch and neither fixed it .. where is the body control module????

My sisters pt had similar issues.. I now have a new 06 windshield stalk $40 shipped (you cant return electrical parts at the dealer)

her problem turned out to be the tipm (totally intergrated power module) for your sake i hope its not the same ... $1200 to reflash it

Do you still have it? My wiper only works in high speed. I´m going to give it a try on the swich + wiper module. Hope that is not the TIPM.

Wel mine turned out to be the wiper switch assembly AND the TIPM about 2200 dollars .. thank god I got the extended warranty.There was some other things they fixed too but nothing to do with the wipers. Thanks for all you guy's help

the "module" is the mfs ( multi function switch) and that is what i am selling for 06+ cruisers. Lmk ican email pics.

yes, $40 shipped

no, there is the tipm AND ecu... They only did this in 06-07.... Horrible expensive idea in sharing resposibilities of the ecu.
