700 mile trip. well almost.

just got back from a spur of the moment trip to Pendleton Oregon.
Pendleton is about 270 miles from where I live in Albany.
My great uncle passed away last Thursday and his funeral was yesterday.
I left yesterday morning at 6:30 hardly made it there before lunch.
The funeral was from 1-4 in Walla Walla. I drove back to Pendleton just in time.
I had felt sick all way back to my nice cozy bed at the Red Lion.
I woke up the next morning feeling much better.
I ate a giant breakfast at the local Shari's. Meat lovers Skillet. yummy.
I then started to drive home. I made it home around 6:30.
Overall it was good bonding time for me and Petey.

Heres a google map of our trip: total of 640miles give or take a couple.
Little more than 11 hours of driving. whew. I made it home.

best grits I've had since the last time I was In Pendleton.
i'm happy to be back home though. were there is actually green stuff.
good old Linn/Benton County. (Grass Seed Capitols of the World...I guess.)
That means lots of green. i mean just google earth it. lol.
I did bring some sagebrush back with me. thats not something we get very much of in the valley and the smell of the sagebrush is overwhelming.
The last time I was in Pendleton it rained and I could just smell the rain coming for miles. It was something hard to forget.
And the sunsets there are just beautiful. I just wish I could have made a trip to the blue mountains where Chief Joseph and the Nez Peirce lived before getting kicked out in the 1970's. And seen the sunset from there.
