I read this where someone asked this question and someone answered. I will paste below. After reading that would you think that's a correct answer?
QUESTION: I got a question for thoose who have gotten there timing belt changed. Are the pistons far enough away from the valves to not hit in a 2002 Pt cruiser. ANSWER: The 2.4 Liter used in the PT Cruiser is a non interference engine which means if it breaks it won't damage the engine. __________________ |

Yep. So it's actually still an interference engine but in a different way. A friend of mine runs a parts store here and in the 100's of timing belts he's sold for the 2.4, mine and two others were the only ones that he has seen that didn't connect.
