Hey everyone, let me start by saying I am not car savvy, I know how to change a tire and check oil, and that's about it. But I switch cars with my mom and my car worked the day before just fine, and when i went to switch cars back i saw it on the side of the road with a T-shirt in the window. I was wondering how does a car just cut off like that, when it drove the the day before just fine. My dad said he checked the oil, it was good, he said the battery was good, he said it maybe the fuel pump or fuel filter. I tried to start the car and it just wheezes. It literally sounds like an old man trying to catch his breath. I also read how to check the check engine light by pressing the odometer and letting go when you start the car. It said no faults. So if anyone can help me....PLEASE do so cause I need a car!!!! Any help or suggestions would be most appreciative. Thank you all in advance

Odds are that your timing belt snapped.
Depending on the mechanic, starts at $700 and goes up....

no idea, i bought from a friend at work, but she no longer works there w/ my luck...but she did say that when we bought the car that they checked everything and gave it a tune up and an oil change, but I don't know if they check for that sort of stuff when you go for your car to get inspected or when you get a tune up

duhneese79, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but a normal check up does NOT check the timing belt. That is what it sounds like to us.

Ask around to see if any family, friends or coworkers know of a good independent shop. That'll be cheaper than having the dealer bend you over.
