Ummm.. yep. I'm original from upstate NY (Watertown) and we've set more than one record for snowfall in a given day/year. The winters are the reason I moved south 10 years ago.

As far as rust, a friend's car that has spent 6 years or so in Minnesota is starting to show signs that she didn't clean the salt off the vehicle very often... the underside is horribly rusted and rust is starting to creep up the doors... one spot has completely rusted through.

Glad we don't have salt down here.

Thank you all for the help. I really appreciate it.

My mechanic did say that it was fixable and the dealer has already taken it in to be fixed. The dealer knows me I work for a very well known law firm in this area so I figure he wouldn’t try to screw me. Some used dealerships I went to seemed like they did not even want to sell me a car, I wonder what they were hiding.

Anyways after the dealership takes care of the rust I will take it back to be looked at, I will also try to get good pictures to post. It is such a good car it is a shame someone would allow their PT to get like that.

However it was well taken care of according to the carfax it had an oil change every 3 thousand miles, tire rotations done ect. so it was not completely neglected.

The people who owned this car also owned 2 other cars so they probably switched cars a lot, most people in this town do that, just not me

Some people just don't care. My sister-in-law is one of those. Her car never gets washed. The oil only gets changed when her brother reminds her (he's the one that changes it). It only gets serviced when something is severely wrong with it. I don't understand how people can do that but for some, a car is just an appliance to get from one place to the other. "Preventative maintenance" isn't in some people's vocabulary. :P

Cool Re: So close to getting my PT (questions)

with my PT's they go in on the scheduled maintenance as it says in the manual for the carfax report if i ever trade it in, highly doubtfull, but i did that anyways so my PT's stay in tip top shape. also, there are no dents, dings, paint chip missing or anything. if one thing goes wrong with any of them they are in the shop to be fixed and to look like new.
