Power steering pump question

My wife let the power steering fluid get low in her PT. I refilled it and it now has some noise on start up which disappears after running a while. I thought it was just some air that would work itself out but it's been a few days and it's still doing it. Is there a bleeding procedure needed? On checking around I heard that Chrysler was saying that pump noise was common but that's only one input. Any help would be appreciated.

What did you fill the power steering unit with? There's a TSB (#1900701) from Chrysler that specifies only one particular type of fluid to use.

Can you see if the pump is leaking at all because it could have a bad bearing causing it to whine.

I might hear the same "noise", but the fluid level seems fine.

The power steering "noise" tends to whine during cold nights, right after start-up. Even if you don't turn the wheel, it will intermitently whine. More so, if you turn the wheel.

After it warms up to operating temp, it's almost unnoticeable.

I wonder if we have the same issue??

Perhaps try putting in some of that thick power steering whine-stopping liquid? I bought some in a white container and used it on previous cars (pt hasn't needed it yet), and it helps really well.
