Problem with Passenger Seat Airbag Sensor

Hi Gang,

I am hoping there is someone here that might be able to help, as the "Dinging" from my 2007 PT Cruiser is starting to drive me nuts!

About a week or so ago, the Airbag Sensor for the passenger seat began to start "Dinging" when I am in the passenger seat. I know that the warning alarm is set to go off when the person sitting there is not heavy enough such as a child, but I weigh 160 pounds. I have had a relative sit in this seat for testing, and the alarm does not go off for them, and they weigh over 200 pounds. I am a little confused as to why this alarm will go off for a 160 pound person, and not for a 200 pound person. My first guess is that the sensor might be going bad, or that there may be some sort of recalibration that needs to be done. I was hoping someone here may be able to guide me the right direction, before I pay the dealership a bundle of money for a diagnosis.

As a side note, the alarm does not go off when the seat is empty.
