I am new to the forum (not sure how I missed this one?!). I have had my '05 PT for 3 years now, and plan to own it/drive it until the wheels fall off.
A couple of questions: 1: I have to replace an OEM fog lamp assembly, but waiting for the replacement to come in. I see a Torx screw on the existing assembly - is that all that is holding that in? 2: Anyone know if the 05's are wired for two horns? Mine only has one and it sounds weak, at best. I know I can take a peek under the fender skirt, but thought maybe someone might save me the trouble. Thanks.

You can almost tell by the sound.
My 2006's only came with one horn - the low tone. Kinda like sayin' "huh"!So, first mod on both was adding the "High Tone" Highway Blaster from Autozone. Now, I've got a real horn with both tones.

Did the Autozone horn plug in to existing wiring, or did you have to cut the new horn in? Since I am going to be changing some lights and things anyway, maybe I'll just get under the fender and take care of the horn, too.
As far as the fog lamp assembly - the new one is coming tomorrow so I guess I will find out how difficult it is to replace.

Well, to answer my own questions:
1: The fog lamps are held on by 2 bolts in the back. A little tight in there but not too diffcult to change out the assemblies. The torx screw must be for aiming adjustment 2: The wiring harness for the second horn is NOT on my 2005. As an aside - I had to replace one fog lamp because it took on water and the reflective silver was completely gone. I bought both assemblies, and glad I did. Once I put the new one in, the other one looked really bad. It also had a lot of reflective coating gone. Much better (and brighter) now!

My '06 only had wiring for one horn, so I moved the factory horn behind the front grill where there are unused bolts. Moving the wiring there was piece of cake as it ran through there anyway. It was much louder, but not loud enough. So then I installed a Wolo Badboy compact air horn there. THAT is LOUD. Also added in relays and two chrome horns on top of the engine compartment, with all three it sounds like a freight train coming at you.
![]() No, that's not a bumper sticker, that's the logo for the airhorn... Last edited by Chromenut; 14 Aug 2009 at 10:17 pm. |
