Default Ideas on Squeaky Rear End?

I got an 04 Crusier a few weeks ago. It has 53K miles on it. Overall it's in great shape and am happy with the purchase.

One thing that is driving me nuts right now is this squeak coming from the rear end. The best way I can describe it is that it sounds like chirping crickets.

I can't seem to pin point it to any specific time or activity. It is intermittant. Some times it happens at low speeds in a parking lot. Other times it happens at surface road speeds (35-45) and sometimes even at highway speeds.

Any ideas what this could be and if it's something that someone with limited tools and automotive knowledge might be able to handle?

Welcome.
Almost definitely a rubber bushing.
If you want to ... Get some ramps - "rhino" ramps, plastic and about $20, are great - and back up on the ramps. Get some silicone spray and spray every rubber bushing you see ( including the shock ends).
It may not last, but it's easy to do and won't hurt anything.
