Question Bought my 1st PT today!

Hello, i just bought my first PT Cruiser today. Its used and is a Silver 2004 base with 44K.Love the looks and the roominess inside and it sits a bit higher than a car.Checked over everything over at the dealer but the radio and found out the CD player doesnt work and the radio has a short . You can hear engine acceleration through the speakers.. Only other thing i noticed is when you have the A/C on it seems to labor the engine and you can feel the vibration when it kicks on.Is this normal? Thanks

congrats! and have lots of fun with your new toy ..... just watch out for the Mod Bug: a terrible disease that makes you spend all your time hunting for new goodies for your Cruiser, and drains your credit card!

The AC is the mileage killer. I live in cali and its about 90+ these past weeks and I would rather have 4 windows down than the AC on haha.

As mentioned above watch out for the Mod Bug!

Welcome to the Forum and enjoying your PT.

Your engine should NOT labor or vibrate when you have the AC on. At 44K I bet the plugs, plug wires have not been done, nor the tranny flushed, not just drained, but Flushed. The plug & wires can be done by your self,(see the sticky above the Performance.Section) but the tranny will have to be done by tranny specialists or dealer or someone with a flush system. A new radio can be picked up usually on e bay.

One pleasant surprise that you discover that I found is that the PT makes a nice breeze inside while driving so I almost never use AC. Unless I'm going 70 MPH and don't want the wind noise. Try opening the passenger front window and the driver side rear window.
My A/C creates a noticable decrease in power. That's just the way it is with any 4 cylinder car.

Congrats on the purchase of a new PT. My AC doesn't get used too much because I usually put the top down.

That's 0.040.
Here's how to do plugs:
Spark Plug Guide
your '04 won't have vanity cover (first step) and no more EGR...
And don't buy stock wires - almost any name brand is better....
