Default Highway Honda Encounter

So I was driving doing 50 in a 45 this morning which I feel is respectable and all of a sudden this red Honda Civic speeds up behind and starts to pass me. Only problem is that it was a solid yellow double line. So instead of letting this Honda get away with it I stepped on the gas and they had no choice but to retreat.

The Honda had the nerve to beep at me even though they were the ones trying to do an illegal pass, and I could tell they were so pissed that they had their a$$ handed to them by a little girl in a PT cruiser .

That was s dangerous thing you did whether they were wrong or not. Now after saying that do you have a GT, Lite or a NA? Was the lanes clear both way? Did it pizz you off when they finally passed or did you race them on into work? Were they about the same age as you or younger?

Next time you have an "Idiot Encounter of the Thrid Kind"---

1. Let them Pass.
2. Get a description of the vehicle and the plate if possible.
3. Dial 911
4. Report the dangerous and erratic driving behavior.
5. Let Smokey put their fire out.

The main dispatch gets a dozen calls a day from citizens reporting dangerous or aggressive drivers. It's turned around to us as a Signal 12 (Reckless Vehicle). When spotted, the vehicle is pulled over and if the same driving pattern was also seen by the deputy, he/she is given a citation.

The bad parts are that the offending driving has to be seen by the deputy, not just because someone reported it and there's a lag time between the call from the citizen and the spotting of the offending driver.

It does work however. I've heard many calls about the driver being 10-50 (pulled over/traffic stop).

I'm assuming LawChick doesn't have anything to do with law enforcement.

Dunno what LawChick's situation was, but . . . In mountain driving, I've been in situations where some motor moron started around me on the double yellow. I could see what was coming toward us, but not the moron. The only safe thing for me to do was to floor the gas to keep moron from going around. Otherwise, me, moron and oncoming car would have had a nasty collision. Didn't enjoy doing it.

I work a lot as expert witness in trials with technical issues. I've learned that if the opposition is making fools of themselves, the best strategy is to let them. I have had to advise attorneys that way also. Sometimes, when safety permits, I let the motor morons make fools of themselves. Now and then, they do it in front of the jurisdictional gendarmarie. Fun to watch.

Sort of like that professional basketball player that was arrested by the Maryland state guys a couple days ago: speeding (I understand he was going up to 110 mph, in heavy traffic!)and swerving all over all lanes, as well as on both shoulders, on his motorcycle; he got pulled over after he cut off a marked Md. state police car. That's the guy who was also carrying two fully-loaded handguns AND a loaded shotgun that was stashed in a guitar case slung on his back. (Local news reports his father, by the way, claims the idiot was speeding and heavily-armed "for his protection". Yeah, right.)

Bad bad bad habit...

Like Hooligan said, whether they were wrong or not, your reaction is one of the most dangerous thing to do. And I'm not talking about the "road rage" reaction it can calls.

LOL I actully have a degree in Criminal Justice. I just was in a bad mood i guess and this car was ridding my PT's A$$ and they almost hit my car while they were trying to pass me so in a way it was a good thing i sped up.

Once we got to the 2 lanes and they went pass me at 80 I just stuck to going 50 and let them cruise by.
