I have a 2006 PT Touring, no hitch and no top luggage rack currently installed. We went camping (family of four) this past weekend and found out exactly how much can fit in ours, down to using the space under our seats! I would like any suggestions for luggage racks that work well with the PT. I briefly looked into bike racks before going (they didn’t make it) and saw that it was not recommended to get the strap on ones for the hatch because the seal is too tight. Has anyone used the strap on luggage racks? Ultimately I would like to install a luggage rack for the gear and a hitch for a nice bike rack and also maybe a hitch mounted luggage storage system or a small trailer. Are there any recommendations or anything to stay away from?

I'd stay away from overloading it esp. the roof as the PTC is a little top heavy as is,if you have a sunroof forget it ...I built a light enclosed trailer to carry my models..The trailer weighs about 400# loaded with 50# tongue weight...Anything heavier would be more than I would want to pull with 2 adults and one kid + 200# load in the car and the trailer on the back..It ain't a TRUCK....

HI, Have you looked at the factory rack they seam to work ok and there are probably plenty of them in junk yards by now. we used to remove them alot in the early days of pts. they do need to be installed by removeing the head liner and drilling through the roof so I recommend a bodyshop do the install. be sure to ask them to silacone around the holes to prvent rust. and the hitch should be easy to find. good luck, Ray Newton.

Trailer - But within limits of the tow vehicle. Or buy a truck!
