I have eight more brushes so I can repair two more motors.
Take care all.

I have a replacement fan module sitting in a box in the garage. I had planned to install it just about a week ago, and then take apart the old motor and also see about the brushes. I had a minor stroke which has set that back for a while. (I thought I was too young for that.) I am still hoping to get to it soon. I was able to drive today, so things are looking up.

Hang in there Matt , I've had several...Takes a while to recover and do some things...Each one I got back about 90% function..Keep some easy project for incentive..

Hi Matt, sorry to hear that. When you do get it apart, holler and let me know if the brushes are bad. The cover/back plate comes right off the back side of the motor when you bend three little tabs out away from the case. Easy to take apart and look.

This is fan related but not about the bearings or brushes.
It appears the fan blade itself is balanced with small steal balls embedded into the hub ring.
On one blade I have there are two of them offsetting some weight, on the other, there are none.
Anyone know if that's true?

Interesting, It may be the way they balance a staggered blade configuration. If the blades are not evenly spaced; I suspect that is it. The staggered blades reduce noise......

Well, I got the fan module out and the new one in today. Not too big of a job. Just read the instructions in the TSM and mostly followed them, and took my time. A great feeling. I can see why people suggest using the replacement from the dealer. The OEM module is a Bosch, made in USA. The replacement I bought is a Dorman, made in Thailand. I wonder if it will be better than the even cheaper ones made in China.

When time permits, I'll take the Bosch apart and check the brushes. First order of business is to get my truck running again. I hope it's just the starter.

Matt, when you take it apart, be sure to shoot some pictures so we can see all four of your brushes. Thank you.

Welcome to the Forum, there have been some pictures posted showing the interior of the motor. You'll have to use search to find it tho.

You have a great command of the English language.

800 dollars is crazy, you can get a fan on ebay for about 80 dollars. I don't know how good they are but for 720 dollars I would try one.

pt cruiser fan, eBay Motors, Fans Kits. Great deals on eBay!
