Default Air Conditioning Problem?Advice Please

Hi .............as you know........I had my timing belt, water pump..........and than a leaking powersteering pump changed.........now in 30 degrees Celcius weather I noticed my AC is now not blowing cold like it did before the repairs.........what would cause this? Is the Ac somehow tied into the previously repaired systems?.........Just one problem after another.....

Ok....so I turned the engine on again and than turned on ac no sound of compressor coming on nor a idle jump.....i switched the horn relay with the ac relay as they are the same and the horn works but this did nothing....so I put the relays back to where they were.......not sure what to do next. Also looking at the fuse box/relay box under the hood and my manual.....my car does not have a relay in the "E" location.....it shows in the manual"Radiator Fan Relay High Speed"....it is empty with no relay....is my GT supposed to have it? I have read about fans...relays....compressors....etc....just don't know what the problem is? Help needed please

When the timing belt etc. job was done, was your a/c hose disconnected or loosened? You may have lost Freon IF that was done.

Service Manual states that the AC tubing, accumulator (or whatever its called) need to be disconnected to do the timing belt. It is not absolutely necessary but I'm willing to bet it was done.

You may have lost freon, mechanic may have missed something putting it back together.

In my opinion the mechanic should put everything back together right and you shouldn't be charged.

BTW if he tries to sell you a compressor or really anything at all he is either full of it, or broke it taking it apart and he's trying to cover his losses.

He might have filled it up with freon, but maybe there was a leak and it came back out. I would think this is his responsibility too. He's had his hands all over the AC system in any event.

Phil,

Don't worry about the fuse for the high speed fan. On the Turbo's (don't know if it included the turbo lite) the fan works by the computer and you have a variable speed fan. On the Non-turbos, the fan is either high or low so you have two relays.

Leaned that from MX-5.

I hear ya. Got up to about 43C here this summer. Cooler than last year, though, and the year before was worse.
